Day 1 – Rails to Tea Country, Estates & Seven-Layer Tea

Your journey begins early at the railway station in Dhaka, where the platform buzzes with morning travellers boarding the Parabat Express. As the train rolls eastward, the urban sprawl slowly fades into rice fields, rivers, and palm-lined villages. Gradually, the land begins to rise, and the deep green waves of tea gardens signal your arrival in Sreemangal, the Tea Capital of Bangladesh.

After checking into your hotel and enjoying a relaxed lunch, the afternoon unfolds gently through the surrounding tea country. Colourful Tuk-Tuks carry you along narrow estate roads that wind through endless green plantations. Along the way, you pass pineapple fields, lemon orchards, and citrus groves, where the sweet scent of fruit drifts through the warm air. Tea pickers move rhythmically between the rows, their baskets slowly filling with fresh leaves.

Later, you visit a working tea estate to join a Hands-on Tea-Making Demonstration, where you learn how freshly picked leaves are processed, rolled, dried, and brewed. As evening approaches and the hills glow golden, you settle at the famous Nilkontho Tea Cabin to taste the legendary Seven Layer Tea. In this fascinating drink, each colourful layer carries a slightly different flavour. Dinner follows in the peaceful town, closing your first relaxed evening in tea country.

Day 2 – Hum Hum: Jungle Trek & Hidden Waterfall

After breakfast, a short tuk-tuk ride brings you through quiet villages to Bon Kola Para, the starting point of the trail to Hum Hum Waterfall. The trek quickly leaves civilisation behind as the forest thickens around you. The path winds through bamboo groves, stream crossings, and lush valleys where butterflies drift through shafts of sunlight and birds call from the canopy.

The journey takes about three hours, but the pace is relaxed—stepping over roots, crossing shallow streams, and pausing often to absorb the rainforest atmosphere. Suddenly, the jungle opens, and the waterfall appears, cascading down a moss-covered cliff deep within the forest. Cool mist fills the air, and the sound of rushing water echoes through the valley. Many travellers choose to sit quietly beside the pool or dip their feet into the refreshing water.

A simple trail lunch of fresh fruit and snacks tastes especially satisfying here in the heart of the jungle. In the afternoon, you retrace your path through the forest, arriving back in Srimangal pleasantly tired after a rewarding adventure. The evening is free to relax over a quiet dinner and share stories from the day’s trek.

Day 3 – Lawachara Wildlife & Baikka Beel Wetland

Before sunrise, you enter the rainforest of Lawachara National Park while the forest is just beginning to wake. Along a 3-hour wildlife trail, your guide helps you listen for the haunting call of the endangered Western Hoolock Gibbon, the only ape species found in Bangladesh. Leaf monkeys move through the trees, colourful drongos and barbets flash between branches, and the forest slowly fills with morning light.

After the trek, you visit villages on the forest edge where members of the Khasi People and Manipuri People communities live. These gentle cultural encounters offer glimpses into daily life, from traditional weaving to betel-leaf gardens cultivated on the hillsides.

Later in the afternoon, you travel to the tranquil wetlands of Baikka Beel Wetland Sanctuary. Here, the landscape opens wide: lily pads float across mirror-still water while jacanas delicately step across them. During the winter migration season, flocks of ducks, herons, and waders gather in the reeds. As the sun sets, the wetlands turn gold, making the sanctuary a dream location for photographers and bird lovers alike.

Day 4 – Slow Morning & Journey Home

Your final morning in Srimangal begins gently with breakfast and perhaps a short walk through nearby tea gardens. Early sunlight glows across the plantation hills as workers begin their daily harvest—one last peaceful glimpse of tea country before departure.

After check-out, you board the Jayentika Express for the scenic return journey to Dhaka. As the train glides past villages, rivers, and green fields, memories of the past few days linger: rainforest calls at dawn, mist rising above tea estates, hidden jungle waterfalls, and sunset wetlands alive with birds.

By the time you return to Dhaka, you will carry not just photographs, but also the feeling of having experienced one of Bangladesh’s most peaceful and beautiful landscapes.
