Days
A green ocean rolls to every horizon — tea bushes stitched into perfect curves, mist lifting off rainforest, and village trails humming with crickets. In Srimangal, the Tea Capital of Bangladesh, life slows to the clink of china cups and the rustle of leaves.
You wander through century-old estates alongside pickers at work, learn to brew local specialities (including the famous seven-layer tea), and hike Lawachara National Park at dawn. At the same time, Hoolock Gibbons call across the canopy and colourful birds flicker through the shade. For a dash of adventure, you follow a jungle path to the hidden Hum Hum Waterfall, where cool spray and birdsong meet deep in the forest.
This private 4-day escape puts nature first with one splash of adventure — a slower, richer side of Bangladesh that few travellers ever see.
💡 Pro Tip: We keep it private, so you set the rhythm: linger for photos, pause for birdsong, or chat with tea makers without rush.
(Tuesday starts using private car both ways; trains often run 1–2 hours late.)
📸 Photo Assist Hour: Hands-on help for better street portraits and composition.
🧵 Rickshaw-Art Mini Demo: Meet an artist and learn how the panels are painted.
🚤 Extended River Loop: Extra 30 minutes on quieter channels at golden hour.
Day 1 — Rails to Tea Country, Flavours at Dusk
We pick you up early for the Parabat Express. Fields and palms flicker by as tea country rises. After check-in and lunch, tuk-tuks whisk you through rolling Estates, past Pineapple and Lime Gardens and tiny tea stalls. As the light turns honey-gold, you settle at the legendary Nilkontho Tea Cabin for the 7-Layer Tea—each band a distinct flavour. A cosy dinner wraps up your first slow evening.
Day 2 — Hum Hum: Jungle, Stream & Falls
Fuel up, then ride by tuk-tuk to Bon Kola Para. The Hum Hum Trail feels raw and rewarding: bamboo thickets, stream beds, and ferny slopes alive with birds and butterflies. After about 3 hours, the jungle opens to the falls—mist on your skin, cool pools below (optional dip). You refuel with a simple trail lunch (fresh fruit/snacks), then amble back, tired in the best way. Quiet dinner; early night.
Day 3 — Lawachara Dawn & Baikka Beel Sunset
At first light, you enter Lawachara National Park. On a 3+ hour loop, you listen for the whoop of Hoolock Gibbons, watch Leaf Monkeys, Drongos, Barbets, and maybe a shy deer crossing the path. You pause at a village on the park edge to learn about daily life and weaving, then rest at midday.
Late afternoon, you head to Baikka Beel—a mirror-still wetland where Jacanas step on lily pads, and winter brings flocks of ducks and waders. Expect golden-hour photography opportunities all around.
Day 4 — Easy Morning, Then Homeward
Enjoy breakfast and a gentle estate stroll if you like. After check-out, you board the Jayantika Express back to Dhaka (or ride in a private car if you prefer). We drop you off and say farewell.

Q. How challenging is the Hum Hum trek? Can I skip it?
Expect a moderate–challenging hike (6–7 hours total with breaks). If you’d rather skip it, we can expand tea-estate walks, add extra villages, and include more birding.
Q. Will I definitely see gibbons in Lawachara?
No one can guarantee sightings—gibbons are wild and mobile. We start at dawn to boost your chances; birds and other primates are often seen.
Q. Is the 7-layer tea vegetarian/vegan?
The classic version is vegetarian and uses milk. We can arrange vegan alternatives for the class, though the original layered tea relies on dairy.
Q. Are trains comfortable?
We reserve 1st-class AC when available. If a train goes off-schedule, we switch you to a private AC car with the same inclusions, so you don’t lose time.
Q. Can kids join?
Yes, with adjustments. Hum Hum may feel tough for younger children; we can replace it with lighter trails and hands-on activities.
Q. Can I extend to Sylhet/Jaflong or add a second night train?
Absolutely—this escape links easily to Lalakhal, Ratargul, and Jaflong extensions.
