Is Bangladesh safe for tourists?
Practical Travel
Most nationalities require a visa. A Visa on Arrival (VOA) is available for citizens of the EU, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, and several other countries. It is issued at Dhaka Airport at the discretion of immigration officers. Always confirm eligibility with your nearest embassy and airline before travel.
Light, modest clothing is recommended.
- Men: trousers or long shorts with shirts.
- Women: long trousers or skirts with tops covering the shoulders.
In mosques and temples, modest dress is required for both men and women.
- Cool/dry season: October–March (comfortable for sightseeing).
- Hot season: April–June (humid and warm).
Monsoon: July–September (lush and green, but heavy rains are possible).
Travel is possible year-round with the proper planning
Food and Health
Yes, when chosen carefully. We guide you to hygienic eateries and safe street food vendors. Filtered drinking water is always provided during tours.
Consult your doctor before travel. Common recommendations include Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Tetanus. Malaria is generally not a risk on most tourist routes. However, Bangladesh experiences seasonal dengue outbreaks, so using insect repellent and wearing long sleeves is recommended
Yes. Major cities (Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet) have international-standard hospitals like Evercare Hospital and United Hospital. In rural areas, facilities are basic. We plan routes with safety in mind.
Money and Payments
The local currency is Bangladeshi Taka (BDT). All Panorama Bangladesh prices are quoted in USD for clarity and transparency.
Yes. We accept international cards (Visa, MasterCard), Payoneer, Western Union, and bank transfers.
Yes. We recommend carrying some cash in BDT for small purchases, snacks, and tips. ATMs are available in cities but are limited in rural areas.
On Tour
Most hotels and many restaurants in cities offer Wi-Fi. Mobile data is widely available, and we can help you buy a tourist SIM (Grameenphone/Robi).
Tipping is not mandatory but appreciated.
- Guides: USD 10–20/day
- Drivers: USD 5–10/day
- Small tips in Taka for boatmen, porters, and servers are also valued.
Yes. All tours are flexible. We adjust routes, timings, and activities according to your interests
Special Topics (Logistics & Regulations)
No. Bangladesh’s historic paddle steamers operate intermittently, and schedules can change due to maintenance or operational reasons. Suppose cabins aren’t available or a sailing is cancelled. In that case, we switch to a modern ferry or an alternate route—on the exact dates, with smooth logistics
Yes. Foreign visitors to Bandarban and Rangamati are required to obtain a prior permit and must travel with an authorised guide; processing can take several days. We handle the paperwork and timing for you.
Access is restricted and requires special permission from authorities; policies can tighten without notice. We don’t market this as a tourist destination and can’t guarantee access.
Bangladesh has limited licensed venues. The duty-free allowance for most visitors is typically 2 bottles (per person) upon arrival; public consumption is restricted. We’ll provide you with legal and practical options for your itinerary.
You’ll need your passport for SIM registration (Bangladesh requires ID/biometric registration). Tourist SIMs from Grameenphone/Robi are widely available at Dhaka Airport; we’ll help you set up on arrival.
Sighting a tiger is rare—the Bangladesh Sundarbans hold roughly ~150–200 tigers. The real highlight is the pristine mangrove ecosystem and its diverse array of wildlife.
Peak wholesale activity occurs in late July and September, during the guava harvest; other floating produce markets are more active in the cooler months. We schedule visits to coincide with market days.
Service is weather-dependent and can be suspended during rough seas/low-pressure systems. We monitor notices and adjust routes or dates if the marine authority halts traffic.

Miscellaneous
- The Frequently Asked Questions or FAQ section covers all most every possible queries answer. For more details, please see the Inclusion & Exclusion and Trip Note section of individual tours, as every tour and their itineraries differ.
- Bangladesh is NOT for REGULAR TOURIST. Do enough research about Bangladesh, the Tour, the Hotels on tour, and everything else possible before booking any excursion with us. So that you don’t have any UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS and end up with disappointments after the trip.
- Bangladesh is a third-world country with RAW BEAUTY but has inadequate infrastructure. Nothing works here perfectly and as planned. Organising tours in Bangladesh may result in some inconvenience occasionally. Please be Flexible and Patient while travelling in Bangladesh.
- While travelling in a GROUP, be Co-Operative and Tolerant of the interests of your co-travellers.
- Your Guide or Driver is NOT your He is with you to protect you with his life and assist you in every possible way. If there are any issues with anything, just let him know instead of Trying to KILL him. He’ll do his best with the Panorama Bangladesh Team to resolve the issue.
- We offer high-priority customer support, including a 24//7 emergency line. This is also available on your booking confirmation. During the high season, response times from Panorama Bangladesh will depend on the volume of inquiries and bookings.
- Authority restricts the entrance for visitors inside the airport temporarily. In that case, the assigned person for your pick-up will be waiting outside Terminal 2. Our guide or driver will wait for you at the exit point for domestic flights.
- If we can’t manage a 1st Class ticket for you, a 2nd Class ticket will be provided, without air-conditioning. But you’ll get a reserved seat in the second class too. Being rude, killing the guide, blaming Panorama Bangladesh for ripping you off, taking all your money, and not providing the First-Class Ticket will not solve the problem.
- Some places included in our different tours are very remote. There’ll be no decent restaurants at all. We’ll arrange or provide your meal (breakfast, lunch) with sliced bread, jam, egg, tea/coffee and locally purchased seasonal fruits.
- There’ll be a few train rides included in our tours where you have to ride the train early in the morning. Your hotel won’t be able to provide breakfast that early. We’ll buy breakfast for you on the train: slices of bread and jam or butter, fried chicken, a cutlet, a bottle of water and tea/coffee.
- It’s common for the train to be delayed for 1-2 hours. No matter what time it arrives, our driver will always wait for you to drop your place.
- Roads in Bangladesh are broken and full of crazy traffic. Be patient while riding a car.
- The distance mentioned in the itinerary is taken from Google Maps.
- The travelling time mentioned in the itinerary is our best judgement. Depending on traffic, road and weather conditions, it could be delayed or even earlier.
- At Chattagram Hill Tracts Region, we may need to temporarily turn off the van’s air conditioning to minimise the engine load and give more power. Please be patient with this.
- Spotting a tiger is Not Guaranteed. Only a few tourists can spot a tiger in the wild yearly. If you still couldn’t see or spot a tiger, please don’t blame yourself or the crew or kill your guide.
- When thinking about what to wear in Bangladesh, remember it is a Muslim country, so the key is modesty and keeping covered. Wear long skirts or pants and long-sleeved shirts. Because of the heat and humidity, we recommend you wear natural fabrics, e.g. cotton, linen or silk and go for loose-fitting clothes.
- Please bring a hat or headscarf, sunscreen and sunglasses, a torch (flashlight), mosquito repellent, anti-malarial drugs, and other stuff according to your needs.
- Tipping is a prevalent practice in Asia. In Bangladesh, most workers expect tips, from 100 Taka to upwards, depending on the service provided.
